Mississippi Power receives national award for response to Moss Point tornado
SUMMARY: Mississippi Power received the EEI Emergency Response Award for their swift restoration efforts after an EF-2 tornado hit Moss Point in June. SUMMARY: Ben Crump, attorney for the family of Demartravion “Trey” Reed, announced that Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp Autopsy Initiative will fund an independent autopsy after Reed, 21, was found dead by hanging on Delta State University’s campus. SUMMARY: Mississippi’s only major-league affiliated team, the Biloxi Shuckers, was eliminated from the 2025 Southern League playoffs after a 4-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits in game two of the Division Series. This marks the second consecutive year Montgomery has ousted Biloxi. The Shuckers finished the season 74-64, winning the South Division first-half title. Manager Joe Ayrault, who battled and beat stage 3 colon cancer during the season, praised the team’s effort. Despite an early lead from Jesus Made’s homer and Blake Burke’s RBI single, Montgomery rallied in the eighth inning to win. Biloxi’s next season starts April 3, 2026.
