Mississippi Museum of Art Hosts State’s First Picasso Exhibit

SUMMARY: The Mississippi of Art in is hosting “Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds,” the first solo exhibit in the dedicated to Pablo Picasso's landscapes. Open until March 3, 2024, the exhibit features 27 of his paintings and sculptures, spanning his career from student days to his last landscape before dying in 1973. These rare works examine nature, industry, and war. Visitors can also view historical films and photos. Brandi Hoxie from the Mississippi Art Education Association praised the exhibit's significance. Coinciding with this is “Bearden/Picasso: Rhythms and Reverberations,” comparing Romare Bearden's work with Picasso's. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Over five years, it will identifying and implementing projects to improve environmental conditions in six coastal counties of Mississippi.
