Mississippi Insight for Nov. 19, 2023: Foote and Luckett
SUMMARY: Jackson councilman Alby Foot discusses the city's new RFP for garbage service. The RFP is for a garbage collection contract in Jackson. The previous year has been the most expensive garbage collection period in Jackson. Councilman Foot is reviewing the RFP and has some issues with it. He is looking for a long-term contract with lower costs. The mayor and council need to work together to negotiate a contract without a public fight. The current contract with Richards expires in March, and the council is being sued by them, and the legal department has not asked for the dismissal of this case.
Jackson's Ward 1 Councilman Ashby Foote discusses garbage service, city finances and more with 12 News' Byron Brown. Also, Jackson State University professor Robert Luckett considers 2023's voter turnout through a historical perspective. Produced by Tom Wright.
