Mississippi guardsman returns home after suffering heat stroke
SUMMARY: National Guardsman Colby Maury-Rice of Hattiesburg suffered a severe heat stroke in August 2023 during training at Camp Shelby and spent the last five months in a hospital. After waking from a 57-day coma, he had to relearn how to speak, walk and eat due to brain damage. His recovery has exceeded expectations and he will continue with physical, speech and occupational therapy. Maury-Rice is focused on attending the University of Southern Mississippi and a GoFundMe has been created to help with his medical expenses. His family is grateful for his progress and consider his recovery a miracle.

Man shot, killed at Jackson gas station
SUMMARY: One man, Joshua Bennet, was killed in a shooting at a Jackson gas station. The incident occurred at a Shell gas station on West Northside Drive on May 17. An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting, but has not been identified. Detective Tommie Brown confirmed the arrest. The Jackson Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking additional information from the public regarding the incident.
