MBI investigates officer-involved shooting in Lauderdale County
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting that took place on March 1st in Meridian on Poplar Springs Drive involving the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department. A deputy attempted to stop an alleged drunk driver, and during the interaction, a passenger in the vehicle fired a weapon at the deputy, injuring him non-fatally. In response, the deputy discharged his own weapon, resulting in fatal injuries to the subject. The driver was arrested with no injuries, and the investigation is ongoing with more information to come.
