Lowndes County deputies visit schools to conduct threat assessments
SUMMARY: The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office in Mississippi is conducting threat assessments at every school campus in the county before students return to campus. Deputies have undergone specialized training to identify weak points in building security and will make recommendations to the school board on possible changes to improve safety. The sheriff is focused on ensuring the safety of children in light of recent incidents of active shooters in schools across the country. Students in Lowndes County will start classes on July 27.
