Louisiana man pleads guilty to DUI crash on Natchez Trace
SUMMARY: Ne'Tron Lambert, a Louisiana man, pled guilty to two counts of aggravated driving under the influence causing injuries after a DUI crash on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi. The accident involved two vehicles and resulted in injuries to Lambert, his three passengers, and the driver of the other vehicle. Lambert was found to be under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the accident. He was sentenced to serve 15 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Jackson homeowner shot after confronting suspects trying to steal car
SUMMARY: In Jackson, Mississippi, a homeowner was injured in a shooting after confronting suspects attempting to steal a vehicle around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, on Bonita Drive. Detective Tommie Brown reported that several unidentified juveniles were involved and that one of them shot the homeowner in the stomach. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Hinds County supervisor expelled after bringing gun to meeting
SUMMARY: Hinds County Board of Supervisors expelled District 2 Supervisor Tony Smith from a meeting for carrying a firearm without a concealed carry permit. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones noticed Smith's gun under his jacket during a recess and addressed the issue. District 1 Supervisor Robert Graham stated they followed protocol based on the sheriff's advice. Smith was escorted to his vehicle, and the Board voted to expel him for the rest of the meeting. Smith did not have an enhanced carry permit, and no charges have been filed against him. Attempts to reach Smith for comment were unsuccessful.
