Laurel man to serve 25 years
SUMMARY: A man from Jones County pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of his girlfriend. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 25 years to serve day-for-day. In May 2012, the woman's body was found in the Leaf River by boaters near the Mississippi 590 bridge and boat ramp. She was identified as Brittany Holifield by the Mississippi Crime Lab through fingerprints. The following day, Marty Breazeale was named as a suspect and a manhunt began. Ultimately, he was caught and sentenced for the crime.
