Laurel gets boost financially from state funds for 12th Street project

SUMMARY: The of Laurel received a $3 million community fund grant for its 12th street improvement . The project includes new sidewalks, paving, and sewer , and pedestrian crossings. Johnny Magee stated that the project will make crossing the busy street safer, especially for people going to C-Spire and Chick-fil-A, and that it is a significant improvement for the community. The project was prompted by a tragic incident in 2019 when a first-grader crossing 12th Street at the high school was hit and killed by a car.

09/22 Highlights: Sumrall v. Hattiesburg

Columbia preschool’s St. Jude fundraiser turns personal
