Child abducted from Louisiana found dead in Jackson
SUMMARY: Jackson police have confirmed the death of a three-year-old child abducted in Louisiana. The child was found in a wooded area in South Jackson. Police Chief told 16 WAPT's Ross Adams that officers captured the suspect, Daniel Callahan, after a pursuit and found the child's body in her home's backyard. Her six-year-old sister, Jayla Brunet, was also found with injuries and is hospitalized. Callahan, connected to a deceased woman found in Loranger, Louisiana, is in custody. The investigation continues, and the cause of the child's death is still unknown.
A 3-year-old found dead in Jackson was abducted, along with her 6-year-old sister, who was found alive.

1 child dead, 1 alive after Louisiana Amber Alert suspect captured in Mississippi
SUMMARY: This afternoon, multiple agencies responded to BJA Road in South Jackson, uncovering a tragic scene linked to an Amber Alert from South Louisiana. One child was found dead and another alive. The suspect, Daniel Callahan, was located with the assistance of Byron Police and the US Marshals Service. Four-year-old Aaron Bernett was found dead while her sister, six-year-old Jaye Bernett, was hospitalized. Their mother had been killed in Ler, Louisiana, earlier. Authorities are investigating potential human trafficking connections at the site. The police chief expressed deep disturbance over the findings, including small animal cages, indicating possible human trafficking activities.

Former Mississippi Lottery employee pleads guilty to embezzlement
SUMMARY: Former Mississippi Lottery Corporation employee Hope Bishop pleaded guilty to embezzlement. State Auditor Shad White stated that Bishop gave herself unauthorized raises totaling $187,000. Despite her actions, Bishop had no access to the gaming side of Lottery operations, and the integrity of lottery games remained unaffected. The Lottery Corporation has since implemented additional controls to prevent future embezzlement. Bishop was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
