Kosciusko man accused of stealing hearse, arrested after chase
SUMMARY: guilty to stealing a hearse and leading police on a chase. The stolen hearse was reported around 7:00 PM on Wednesday night, and the driver of the hearse fled when a police officer attempted to stop it. Law enforcement pursued the hearse on Highway 12 until spike strips were deployed near the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 413, causing the vehicle to crash. The driver, Matthew Thomas, aged 58, was arrested and now faces charges of felony theft of a motor vehicle, felony fleeing, and driving without a license. A Pearl River man pleaded guilty to these charges.

Ridgeland triple homicide suspect killed in Arizona gunfight

Multiple injured in ATV wrecks in Lowndes County
SUMMARY: Over the weekend, two ATV accidents occurred resulting in multiple injuries. The first accident involved a mother and her three children being ejected from a Canam side by side vehicle that overturned on Wri Road in Calonia. One child, a six-year-old, remains hospitalized. The second accident involved a 24-year-old who was injured after their vehicle overturned on Canfield Road in Columbus. All individuals involved in the accidents were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Sheriff Eddie Hawkins reported both incidents and emphasized the importance of ATV safety to prevent such accidents in the future.
Two separate ATV wrecks in Lowndes County injured several individuals including children.
