SUMMARY: The Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission has approved a $3.6 million youth addiction prevention campaign called “Better Without It,” proposed by State Attorney General Russell Coleman. This two-year initiative, funded by drug company legal settlements, aims to combat drug experimentation and opioid use, particularly fentanyl, which caused 79% of Kentucky’s nearly 2,000 overdose deaths last year. The campaign includes social media ads, enhanced school prevention programs, and promotion of the commission’s efforts, targeting individuals aged 13 to mid-20s. The next commission meeting is scheduled for October 8th.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman has created a statewide drug prevention program with a youth-focused initiative.
