Jxn Water Status Folo
SUMMARY: A federal judge held a two-day status conference in Jackson, where residents had the opportunity to express their concerns about the lack of communication and transparency from third-party administrator Ted Henifin. The state health department advisory recommending pregnant women and children under 5 drink filtered water remains in place due to the city's lack of a permanent corrosion control system to detect lead. Henifin insists the water is safe, but poor people's campaign organizer Danyelle Holmes does not believe him. Holmes showed the judge residents' Facebook photos of brown and dirty water and corroded pipes. There are also questions about how Henifin is using federal funds to fix the water system. Holmes asked the judge to make all JXN water contracts public. Former interim public works director Jordan Hillman is now on loan from the city to JXN Water, which Holmes is focusing on.
