JPS middle school students moved to another school
SUMMARY: Chastain Middle School in Jackson, Mississippi was evacuated on November 30th due to a gas odor. As a precaution, students and staff were transported to Whitten Middle School for the day, and then later relocated to Kirksey Middle School. The odor was caused by heating elements in the school's HVAC units, not an actual gas leak. To ensure safety, facilities staff will have time to investigate and resolve the issue. After the school day, students will be transported home by bus, and those who walk or are driven will be returned to a safe area near Chastain.
