Jackson water main breaks cause issues for citizens
SUMMARY: The City of Jackson's water system is still recovering from last week's freezing temperatures. Crews are working to fix ruptured pipes and water main breaks across the city, including part of J.R. Lynch Street. Officials from Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School said they try to prepare for issues, but it can be difficult to inform parents about water problems. There is no set timeline on when the repairs will be complete, but JXN Water officials said the system was showing signs of stabilization on Sunday. Councilman is calling for sympathy from JXN Water for the elderly affected.

SUMMARY: Maurice Forte, a 29-year-old man from Jackson, Mississippi, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of his grandmother, mother, and pregnant sister in 2018. Forte was convicted on four counts of capital murder after fatally shooting the three women multiple times in their home. The victims were Forte's grandmother, mother, and sister who was seven-months pregnant. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens stated that Forte showed “senseless violence” by shooting his grandmother eighteen times, his mother nine times, and his pregnant sister twice. Forte will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole for his actions.

SUMMARY: Texas and Mississippi Crime Stoppers are seeking help to identify a suspect in connection with an attempted murder in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The suspect is described as a large man wearing a black and red jacket, gray pants, and tan/brown boots. He fled the scene in a white Honda Accord with tinted windows. A reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect's identification. Brazos County Crime Stoppers will assist with coordinating any reward for information in their area.

SUMMARY: Denise Frazier, a Purvis woman, had her bond revoked for charges of unnatural intercourse with a dog in Jones County. She was initially held in Forrest County Jail and was indicted by a grand jury in May 2014. Frazier violated her bond conditions from a prior arrest in April 2013 for unnatural intercourse and cruelty towards an animal. A judge had ordered her to have no contact with animals during the case, but she violated this order in a video. Frazier is currently being held in Jones County for these offenses.
