Jackson Councilman to vote ‘NO’ on approving new public works director
SUMMARY: Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes has expressed his lack of confidence in the city's newest public works director, stating that he had quit on the city before and is now trying to come back. The director, Khalid Woods, resigned in July but has since been reinstated by Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. Councilman Stokes had previously called for a no-confidence vote against another candidate for the role, but now believes he has done a fair job. While city leaders debate the appointment, residents are just hoping for effective action to fix the issues in their neighborhoods.
