Jackson City Council approves funds to house homeless

The Jackson Resource Center will receive $2.8 million in ARPA funds for the project. The homes will be built on an 18-acre lot on Capers Avenue, and the construction will happen in phases. Putalamus White, the founder of the center, has been developing the project for more than a decade. Some councilmembers expressed concern that the homes could create problems for residents in the area.

Columbus man charged in connection with Meridian homicide

SUMMARY: Dedtrick Jones, a 20-year-old man from Columbus, has been charged with shooting and killing Marvin Horn Jr. in Meridian. The shooting took place on March 10 on Mosby Road.
