SUMMARY: Columbus Mayor Keith Gaskin is preparing to head to New York City for the Mayor's Institute on City Design, an event sponsored by the US Conference of Mayors and the National Endowment for the Arts. The focus will be on revitalizing areas of Columbus that have seen economic and racial disparities, including Prope's Park, Queen City Historic District, and the Memphis Town Superfund site. Funding has been secured to refurbish Prope's Park, and Gaskin will seek advice and expertise from other mayors and experts in city planning, transportation, and architecture to move these revitalization plans forward.
