Inaugural race raises $10K for Homes of Hope
SUMMARY: A first-ever 5K race was held less than two weeks ago, bringing in $10,000 for the worthy organization, Homes of Hope for Children, which provides stable homes for disadvantaged boys and girls. The check was presented at Toyota of Hattiesburg, the dealership that hosted the inaugural “Jingle All the Way” race held at Kamper Park back on December 16th. Nearly $4,000 was brought in by the race, and Toyota General Manager Alton Pierce rounded up the donation to an even $10,000.

Governor Tate Reeves is requesting individual assistance from FEMA
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves is requesting individual assistance from FEMA for storms that occurred in April, specifically from April 8th to April 11th. The request is for six counties – nishoba, Hancock, Hines, Humphrey, Madison, and Scott – that were affected by severe storms, flooding, strong winds, and tornadoes. The state reported 13 tornadoes and two deaths during this time. If approved, individual assistance could provide grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-cost loans, and other programs to residents in these areas. Damage in Hines County is shown in a video accompanying the announcement.
This request is for the storms that happened back in April.
