IMMS releases two sea turtles in Pass Christian
SUMMARY: The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies released two sea turtles, Delbert and Ely, in Pass Christiane today. These turtles, originally from Massachusetts, underwent long-term rehabilitation at the institute's facility. The turtles' release is significant as researchers will track their location using satellite technology. This will provide valuable data on how the turtles adapt to their new habitat. Previous released turtles were only tracked during winter releases, making Delbert and Ely's summer release unique and informative. The turtles were named after Mississippi Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hoseman and Ely Reeves, the state's first lady. The turtles' progress can be tracked on the IMMS website.
