How much would a winner get?
SUMMARY: The Powerball jackpot has surpassed $500 million and reached $543 million. However, taxes and the game's structure will reduce your payout by as much as $273 million, regardless of the total amount won. There are two options for winning: cash lump sum or annuitized. Powerball officials now estimate the jackpot to be $572 million with a cash value of $286.7 million. If a payout were to happen today, it would be the largest-ever December prize. Unfortunately, taxes will automatically be withheld from the winner's prize. Moreover, a winner should assemble a professional team, including: an attorney, a tax advisor, and a financial advisor.
