SUMMARY: The first explosion in South Jackson resulted in the death of an 82-year-old woman and the National Transportation Safety Board found that Atmos Energy had found leaks months prior to the explosions. Dekeither Stamps, the Public Service Commissioner in Central Mississippi, released a statement announcing that they are working with Congressman Bennie Thompson to hold all responsible parties accountable. The Mississippi Public Service Commission is conducting their own investigation and there is a bill going through the legislature to increase penalties for responsible parties. Partner attorney Britt Strottman is hoping that the Mississippi Public Service Commission will penalize the responsible parties for the gas line issues.
