State, defense rests case in murder trial for man accused in Univ. of Miss. “Jay” Lee death
SUMMARY: In the murder trial of Timothy Harrington Jr., accused of killing University of Mississippi student Jimmy J. Lee, both the prosecution and defense have rested. Prosecutors presented cell phone evidence showing text messages between Lee and Harrington, revealing Lee visited Harrington’s apartment twice on the morning of his disappearance. Detective Ryan Baker testified that Harrington searched how long it takes to strangle someone before Lee’s second visit. The defense questioned the accuracy of the phone pings used to track Lee’s location. Lee, 20, disappeared in July 2022 and has not been found. Harrington faces the death penalty if convicted.
