Hinds County detention staff to see raises

SUMMARY: and deputies from $30,000 to $35,000 and $34,000 to $36,000, respectively. The salary increases were made in an effort to address recruitment and retention issues within the Hinds County Sheriff's Office. Detention officers will now have a starting salary of $35,000, sergeants will receive $40,000, and detention lieutenants will earn $42,500. Sheriff Tyree Jones stated that these raises will help align the salaries with industry standards and improve the ability to attract and retain employees. Last month, the board also approved salary increases for dispatchers and deputies.
