Heroic sergeant officially commended by City of Laurel
SUMMARY: A special session will take place tomorrow morning at 9:30 am. The mayor of Laurel issued a special commendation today to a heroic man, Sergeant First Class Corey Engard, who was honored for saving the life of Colton Rogers on November 17th, when his vehicle flipped on a highway guardrail. Engard quickly pulled over, helped Rogers, and used his belt as a makeshift tourniquet to slow the bleeding from Rogers' leg. Engard expressed gratitude for the support from other people who helped him and said they are proud to be a part of that. Rogers is set to get his prosthetic leg this week and hopefully start walking.

Columbus citizens voting Tuesday on school bond issue
SUMMARY: Columbus residents are voting on a $36 million bond issue for the Columbus Municipal School district, which would go towards repairs and safety upgrades in school buildings. Voters to decide on Lamar County school bond
SUMMARY: Today, voters in Lamar County are deciding on whether to approve a $117 million bond for the Lamar County School District. The funds will be used to construct new Summerall High School, Oak Grove Middle School, and Pis High School.
