Hattiesburg high school “A” rating standing strong
SUMMARY: In the last two years, Hattiesburg High School earned an “A” rating from the Mississippi Department of Education after years of working towards improvement. Kyra Lampley talked with school leaders about how the school improved and their efforts to retain the “A” grade. Four years prior, Hattiesburg High School was rated an F, according to the MS Department of Education. Principal Victor Hubbard says that changing the culture was the first step in becoming successful. Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker also spoke positively about the success of the school district, saying it speaks well for the students, teachers, and the entire community.
The school also offers several programs to help students be successful after graduation.

Mississippi Department of Education announces letter grades for districts and schools
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Education has released accountability grades for public school districts for the 2023-2024 school year, primarily based on standardized testing. Overall, 54 districts received an A, 50 a B, and 35 a C, marking the highest proportion of districts rated B or C in the state‘s history. Locally, 20 districts reported an A, 14 a B, and three a C, with none receiving a D or F. For more details, WTV’s Mayner will provide a live report on WTV 9 News at 4:30.

Edwards water main break leads to boil water alert
SUMMARY: A boiled water notice has been issued for the town of Edwards in Hind County due to a water main break, affecting all connections to the drinking water system.
