Gulfport City Council votes to ban parking on grass

SUMMARY: Council has adjusted its regulatory language to prohibit parking on grass. The council had neglected to include parking within residential in its recent to the international property maintenance code, requiring the amendment. The ruling provides enforcement powers with fines up to $200 and states that vehicles must use specific parking areas, driveways or permitted street when available and safe to do so. The change officially takes effect 30 days the recent vote on the amendment.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
