Funeral for Mississippi Guardsman Bryan Zemek held on Monday
SUMMARY: The bodies of two National Guardsmen killed in a helicopter crash will be laid to rest soon after public funeral services were held for them. Chief Warrant Officer Derek Abbot was honored in Folton, followed by a service for Chief Warrant Officer Brian Zck at Davis Event Center. Zck, a distinguished AH64 helicopter pilot, was remembered as a devoted family man and faithful believer. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, and brothers. Zck's body will be buried in a cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The community came together to pay their respects to the fallen guardsmen during the public funeral services.

Pearl River Valley working to restore power near Bassfield
SUMMARY: Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association is still assessing storm damage after high winds hit the Pine Belt area on Monday. Over 10,000 members lost power, but crews have restored it to under 300. The bulk of outages are in the Bassfield area, with about 170 broken power poles. Crews are clearing debris to replace infrastructure. The recovery process has been lengthy, but they are hopeful to soon have everyone back up and running. Thanks to contract crews and linemen for their hard work. Crews will be working into the night to restore power.
