Flood waters continue to rise in the Luxapallila Creek in Millport
SUMMARY: The town of Millport in West Alabama is facing significant damage caused by a clogged creek. Luxapallila Creek, which stretches nearly 10 miles to the Mississippi state line, has been filling with debris for years. Heavy rains cause the creek to overflow onto Highway 17, rendering thousands of acres of land useless. The rising water is also threatening a nearby railroad and local businesses. SUMMARY: On May 17th at 12:23 a.m., Starkville Police responded to gunshots at the intersection of South Montgomery Street and Yellow Jacket Drive. Three individuals were charged in the incident: Marcuevas Guido with aggravated assault, Cedric Lucious with disorderly conduct and possession of a stolen firearm, and Cornelius Hendrix with accessory after the fact.
