Federal officials to transfer control of Jackson sewer to third-party water manager
SUMMARY: Jackson's interim third-party water manager, Ted Henifin, will soon take control of the city's sewer system, according to an approved proposed order. The move aims to expedite necessary repairs to the system. Henifin, who has been overseeing the city's drinking water system since November, will be responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the sewer system as well. The agreement acknowledges the city's failure to make progress in previous settlements and the deterioration of the sewer system over the past decade. Henifin will be in charge of numerous projects, estimated to cost around $130 million, funded through federal grants.
