D’Iberville Police accuse 2 women of shoplifting multiple Academy Sports stores across Southeast
SUMMARY: Two men are accused of stealing from Academy Sports and Outdoors stores across the southeast. The first shoplifting complaint was on March 17th when two women stole over $5,000 worth of merchandise. The women, born in Romania and claiming residency in Texas, returned to the store and were arrested. They are being held on a $100,000 bond and placed on an ICE hold. The men are facing shoplifting charges and the investigation continues.
D'Iberville Police Chief Shannon Nobles said officers arrested Cristina Pantelica, 37, and Alandro Badanac, 19, on felony shoplifting charges.

Popp's Ferry Road extension receives green light to move forward
SUMMARY: The extension of Pops Ferry Road to connect with Highway 90 has received approval from state and federal agencies. This $27 million project, set to break ground by mid-August, aims to improve traffic flow by creating a more consistent and consolidated route. The extension will pass through the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center property, incorporating an underpass to maintain traffic and provide a new entrance for visitors. Additionally, Pops Ferry Road will become a state road, making it eligible for federal funds, which could be used to address issues with the existing drawbridge. Bids for the project open on June 12th.
Biloxi's push to connect Popp's Ferry Road to Highway 90 is getting the green light to move forward.
