David Archie proposes reallocating $7.8 million to move Jackson Zoo
SUMMARY: Hinds County Supervisor David Archie attempted to redirect funds to move the Jackson Zoo and rename it the Hinds County Public Zoo. His motions were voted against by the majority of the board. The current location of the zoo has faced challenges in attracting visitors and generating revenue. Talks of moving the zoo have been ongoing for years, but the proposed location at LeFleur's Bluff State Park has raised concerns about flooding and space. Archie also questioned the county's allocation of funds for water repairs in Jackson. The board voted against his motion to hold off on spending those funds.
