County Health Dept. hosts walk-in vaccinations for kids first entering school
SUMMARY: The state of Mississippi requires certain vaccinations for children entering school and moving up to seventh grade. In Lowndes County, the State Department of Health is hosting a walk-in vaccination clinic to make it easier for parents to get their children vaccinated. The clinic will have extra personnel and will be open from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Parents have the option of obtaining the immunization form from the provider or using the online portal, My IR Mobile, to access their state immunization records.

Mississippi woman accused of stealing $70K in SNAP benefits
SUMMARY: Katrina Harris from Pike County, Mississippi, was arrested for SNAP fraud after receiving nearly $70,000 in benefits by providing inaccurate information to the Mississippi Department of Human Service. She surrendered to authorities on March 26 after an investigation revealed she did not report household income and composition accurately. The case was referred to the Pike County District Attorney's office, resulting in an indictment secured on March 5. Harris turned herself in on March 26.
