Candlelight Memorial for HIV Patients at Ken Combs Pier
SUMMARY: The South Mississippi AIDS Task Force organized a candlelight memorial at Ken Combs Pier to honor individuals living with HIV and those who have passed away from the disease. The event, held on HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day, allowed participants to light candles in recognition of people with HIV, those who have died from the disease, and those who offer support to those living with HIV. The vigil serves as a reminder that HIV does not discriminate, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast has the third highest number of new HIV diagnoses in the state. The task force provides housing, food pantry, and testing services, which can be accessed by contacting them at 228-207-0801.
