Beat the heat walking through the mall!
SUMMARY: Walking can be a great way to maintain cardiovascular fitness, but in high heat, it may be unbearable, even near the beach. As an alternative, local residents in Gulfport have begun walking inside the air-conditioned Edgewater Mall. One lap around the mall represents one mile and the mall opens at 7:30 am. Many local residents credit their ongoing health and recovery from illness to being able to walk in the mall. The Edgewater Walkers group is reportedly a friendly and healthy community which helps boost both physical health and emotional wellbeing.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting. James, 53, remains at large and is wanted for murder and other charges. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gulfport Police or Crime Stoppers.
