Anthony Fox Conviction Overturned
SUMMARY: The State Court of Appeals overturned the manslaughter conviction of a former Jackson police officer, Anthony Fox, citing insufficient and inconsistent evidence. This ruling overturned a 2022 sentence of 20 years in prison for Fox, who was accused of slamming George Robinson's head into the pavement, leading to his death. With this ruling, all three officers charged in the case have been acquitted. The Hinds County District Attorney's office and Attorney General Lynn Fitch released statements expressing sympathy for Robinson's family and highlighting the acquittal of Anthony Fox. This decision comes after the death of Robinson's nephew, Dexter Wade, who was killed by an off duty Jackson police officer and buried in a pauper's grave without his mother's knowledge.
