All Jackson, Flowood customers under boil water notice due to E. coli
SUMMARY: The entire City of Jackson and the City of Flowood in Mississippi are under state-imposed boil water notices due to the presence of E. coli bacteria in both water supplies. The notice affects over 216,000 customers and will last at least two full days. Health officials recommend boiling water vigorously for one minute before consumption to avoid the risk of bacterial contamination. Fecal coliforms and E. coli in the water can cause short-term health effects such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, and headaches, and may pose a special health risk to infants, young children, and people with compromised immune systems.
