Adopt-A-Grandparent Day coming up
SUMMARY: Adopt a Grandparent Day, on September 9th, encourages volunteers to spend time with isolated senior citizens in local nursing homes. The initiative aims to bring joy and companionship to seniors who may be missing family. Volunteers can engage in activities such as sharing stories, making crafts, or having lunch together. The program recognizes the special bond between grandparents and children, which has been proven to have positive effects on the grandparents' well-being. While volunteers are coordinated for this specific day, the hope is that they will continue to visit and connect with seniors beyond the organized event. As of now, there are still six facilities in need of volunteers. Visit adoptagrandparentday.org to volunteer.
