A Mississippian in Japan — A series on serious food
SUMMARY: When I told my family we were moving to Japan, my mom worried about raw fish, but my wife and kids embraced new culinary experiences. Initially, my wife struggled with sushi, especially Uni, but over time, everyone, including my younger son, enjoyed various dishes. We even frequented conveyor-belt sushi places. Pushing boundaries, I introduced them to Taiwanese cuisine, including sauteed silkworms. The experience was challenging but memorable. My older son wasn't adventurous and stuck to rice, while my younger son and I persevered through the unique dish. These experiences epitomized our adventurous spirit, inspired by Disney's Simba from “The Lion King.”

Mississippi State baseball unable to hold lead, falls to Virginia 5-4
SUMMARY: In a crucial Charlottesville Regional game, Mississippi State narrowly missed taking Virginia into extra innings due to a botched double-play by second baseman Amani Larry. Virginia took an early 2-0 lead, countered by a three-run homer from Mississippi State's Hunter Hines. Despite strong pitching from Jurrangelo Cijntje, the game was tied in the seventh. In the ninth, Virginia capitalized on a ground-rule double and ensuing errors to win. Mississippi State faces St. John's in an elimination game, with the winner needing two victories against Virginia to advance. The Cavaliers need just one more win for a super regional spot.
