MDHS announces expiration of waiver of interview requirements for SNAP

SUMMARY: Beginning May 1, recipients of food stamps in Mississippi will now be required to undergo interviews with SNAP case workers to determine eligibility for benefits. The waiver of interview requirements during the pandemic has expired. Recertification will now take place every 6 months. The Mississippi Department of Human Services is aiming to conduct most interviews over the phone to make the process more convenient for clients. It is important for recipients to ensure that their phone numbers are current with their case manager to facilitate the interview process. Around 200,000 Mississippians benefit from SNAP, with 20,000 in Hinds County.
