Vietnam vets honored with special luncheon in West Point
SUMMARY: Area Vietnam veterans were honored at a special luncheon organized by the Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in West Point. This event aimed to recognize and thank the veterans for their service, as many did not receive proper recognition when they returned home after the war. With the Vietnam veterans now representing the older generation, organizers felt it was important to give them their due recognition, especially as the 50th anniversary of the end of the war approaches. March 29 is recognized as Vietnam Veterans' Day, marking the day the last American troops left Vietnam in 1973.
