Waveland City Council approves Gulf Grove Apartment extension
SUMMARY: Waveland city council has approved a two-week extension for Gulf Grove Apartment residents after the property was deemed condemned. The decision came after residents, including veterans, disabled individuals, and single mothers, were given only 30 days to vacate the property. Building officials found issues with fire suppression systems and mold in the units. Despite the extension, residents continue to express the need for more time and resources for relocation. The council plans to work with agencies to help residents find housing by the deadline on May 29th. The next hearing will provide a progress report on the 36 residents in need of assistance.
Back in April, the city condemned the property, giving tenants 30 days to vacate their units by May 15.

Gautier approves controversial TIF plan despite disapproval from Jackson County, Singing River He…
SUMMARY: A public hearing in Goet tonight saw the city at odds with Jackson County and Singing River Health System over a proposed commercial development including a cardiac Surgery Center. The city council voted to create a Tiff district for Legacy Park, despite opposition from Singing River Health who argue that the new center could impact their profits and employee recruitment. The main developer, Dr. Sati Adanka, defended the project, citing the changing healthcare landscape towards outpatient care. The city maintains that they are only facilitating infrastructure development through the Tiff district. The decision was met with disappointment but the agreement will be decided at a later date.
Gautier City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the creation of a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) district for a commercial development.
