Wellness Wednesday: What are happy pills?
SUMMARY: Doctor Timothy Quinn of Quinn Health Care discusses the use of “happy pills,” specifically referring to medications like Zoloft used for mild depression or anxiety. These medications help increase serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in improved mood and decreased symptoms of depression and anxiety. Quinn emphasizes the importance of seeking medical advice if experiencing symptoms such as sadness, fatigue, or difficulty concentrating. Regular check-ups with a medical provider can help identify if treatment with these medications is necessary. Ultimately, seeking help and discussing symptoms with a medical professional can lead to improved mental health and overall well-being.
