National Guard grounds helicopters days after Mississippi crash
SUMMARY: Following two recent helicopter crashes involving AH-64D Apache helicopters in Utah and Mississippi, the director of the Army National Guard has ordered an aviation safety stand down for all Army National Guard helicopter units. This stand down, effective as of February 26, is to allow officials to review safety policies and procedures. Two Mississippi Army National Guard pilots, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bryan Andrew Zemek and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Joshua Abbott, were killed in the February 23 crash near Booneville. The accident is currently under investigation, and all helicopters have been grounded for safety reasons.
