National Guard grounds helicopters days after Mississippi crash

SUMMARY: two recent helicopter crashes involving AH-64D Apache helicopters in Utah and Mississippi, the director of the Army National Guard has ordered an aviation safety stand down for all Army National Guard helicopter units. This stand down, effective as of February 26, is to allow to safety policies and procedures. Two Mississippi Army National Guard pilots, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Andrew Zemek and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Joshua Abbott, were killed in the February 23 crash near Booneville. The is currently under investigation, and all helicopters have been grounded for safety reasons.
