SUMMARY: The city of Clinton, Mississippi has seen a significant drop in crime over the past decade, with a nearly doubled police force and the use of technology such as cameras, drones, and license plate reader cameras. Residential burglaries are down 94%, business burglaries down 72%, and armed robbery and carjacking have also decreased. The Hinds County District Attorney has confirmed the positive changes, with Clinton now bringing more cases to their office than in the past. The city has also increased police officer pay to $42,000 a year but may need to raise it higher due to competition from other cities.

However, for residents living near wooded areas, the cicadas' loud singing can be a nuisance. Experts say the cicadas will start to clear out in early June. Despite the annoyance, the cicadas serve as a natural phenomenon that offers educational opportunities and a chance to learn more about their life cycle. Gabe Mayor from WTV A9 News reported on the noisy bugs.

The cicadas are screaming, and though it may be annoying, one school says they are a helpful tool.

Man pleads guilty to starting fire at New Albany warehouse
