H.O.P.E. for the Holidays service event happens in Jackson

SUMMARY: The Solid Waste Division of Jackson teamed up with local organizations to clean up litter and debris in the city and collect donations for the homeless. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba described the initiative, called Hope for the Holidays, as a way to show love for the unhoused community and the city as a whole. They provided meals, supplies, and bags to help endure the colder temperatures, while also cleaning up parks in the city. The event took place at Ineva May-Pitman Park until 2 pm and the city was asking for donations of hats, scarves, socks, gloves, and blankets.

On Thursday, Jackson's Solid Waste Division hosted a day of outreach and service for the community. It partnered with Stewpot Community Services, Hinds Behavioral Health Services, Keep Jackson Beautiful, and other community groups and organizations to clean up litter and collect donations for the homeless community.
