PACCAR breaks ground on new multimillion-dollar facility
SUMMARY: In 2007 PACCAR established its roots in Lowndes County, and recently broke ground on a multimillion-dollar facility expansion with Governor Tate Reeves and local leaders in attendance. The expansion includes re-manufacturing operations and ultra-clean operations which will extend the service life of their engines. This expansion is expected to add 100 new jobs to the area and will be completed by 2025. Lowndes County Board of Supervisors President Trip Hairston praised the growth of the company, emphasizing the positive impact on the county, while Governor Reeves highlighted the collaborative effort that made the deal possible. The new facility is anticipated to create jobs by 2026.

Ole Miss baseball adds Joel Mangrum as pitching coach
SUMMARY: Ole Miss baseball named Joel Mangrum as their new pitching coach. Mangrum, a Mississippi native and Mississippi College graduate, joins after serving as the minor league pitching coordinator for the Cleveland Guardians. Mother mourns loss of USM football player
SUMMARY: Family and friends of Southern Miss football player Marcus “MJ” Daniels, Jr. are seeking answers after he was shot and killed in Hattiesburg. His mother, Adrian Jackson, is distraught, describing Daniels as friendly and generous. He showed no signs of trouble before his death. Daniels, 21, was found shot inside a vehicle at Ivy Row Apartments. His former high school coach, Tyler Denmark, praised him for his kindness. No arrests have been made. Daniels, a senior and cornerback for USM, previously played for Ole Miss. USM has provided counseling services, and Hattiesburg police encourage anyone with information to come forward.

1 child dead, 1 alive after Louisiana Amber Alert suspect captured in Mississippi
SUMMARY: The tragic search for two abducted Louisiana girls concluded in Mississippi. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade reported that suspect Daniel Callihan, linked to an Amber Alert, was captured after a chase. Four-year-old Erin Brunett was found deceased in a wooded area, while her sister, six-year-old Jalie Brunett, received hospital treatment. Evidence of possible human trafficking was discovered at the capture site, including small animal cages. The girls were abducted after their mother, Callie Brunett, was found dead in her locked mobile home. Authorities are seeking additional information regarding the incident and the scene on Boozier Drive, Jackson.
