“One Pill Can Kill” initiative underway at Southern Miss
SUMMARY: Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch visited the University of Southern Mississippi to discuss the “One Pill Can Kill” campaign, which raises awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and supports training to identify pills laced with the drug. She also spoke about the Fentanyl Strike Force, an initiative to train law enforcement and prosecutors to effectively handle fentanyl cases. Fitch emphasized the importance of the campaign in light of the alarming number of fentanyl overdose deaths in Mississippi, stating that proactive measures such as education and the distribution of Narcan can make a difference. Earlier in the week, USM installed overdose emergency kits containing Narcan in residence halls.
