Extremely hot weather causes damage to part of Hwy 82 W in Starkville
SUMMARY: A section of Highway 82 West in Starkville, Mississippi has buckled due to excessive heat. The heat caused the asphalt to break down and the binding to deteriorate. The Mississippi Department of Transportation has stated that asphalt can reach temperatures up to 140 to 150 degrees on hot days, causing this kind of damage.
