Deadly tornadoes devastate Mississippi, leaving 1 dead, dozens injured
SUMMARY: Multiple tornadoes swept through Mississippi, resulting in one death and nearly two dozen injuries. The storms were accompanied by high temperatures and hail in some areas. The damage caused by the tornadoes is still being assessed by state emergency workers. Over 49,000 homes in central Mississippi were left without power. Governor Tate Reeves stated that the tornadoes hit Jasper County and Rankin County, and emergency crews have been conducting search and rescue missions. Drones were used in some areas due to downed power lines hindering vehicle access. The state is opening command centers and shelters for those affected by the severe weather.
